Briarcrest Elementary PTF Minutes
PTF President, Misty Lever, welcomes attendees.
Misty introduces Co-Chaplain, Sha Blackmon. Sha gives a devotion based on Matthew 20:28 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Sha challenges attendees to ask others “How can I help?” and to see the impact this will make not only in our school but also in our communities. Sha opens meeting with a prayer.
Misty Lever introduces guest speaker and High School Principal, Eric Sullivan. Eric tells attendees about Jungle Kids for Christ, a partnered ministry between Briarcrest and Antioch Christian Academy in Ecuador. Eric says the ministry began eleven years ago and is an annual mission trip that Briarcrest high school students participate in. For more information, please visit JungleKidsForChrist.org.
Eric Sullivan introduces, Jason Ellis. Jason Ellis is a Briarcrest parent, as well as the Director of Student Ministries. Jason tells attendees about the All Faculty Institute, a class for Briarcrest faculty discussing what a Christian worldview is. There will be a class for any parents who would like to attend discussing this on September 19th at 8:30am and 6:30pm in the high school library.
Kim Avant, Elementary Principal, says that Tuesday, September 17th is Jeans and Jersey day. For a $2 donation, to benefit Jungle Kids for Christ, student may wear any team jersey, or cheer uniform.
Misty Lever encourages attendees to reach out to other parents who may be interested in being involved with the PTF.
September 11th is Patriot Day. Student may wear red, white, and blue shirts with uniform bottoms.
September 18th is school picture day. There will be a sign up genius link if you would like to volunteer to help on picture day.
September 25th is Parent/ Teacher conference day. There will be no school or Briarcare.
The first quarterly Teacher Birthday Luncheon will be on September 27th. There will be a sign up genius link if you would like to bring food.
Wendy Villafana, Service Committee Co Chair, says boxes will be needed for the upcoming canned food drive to benefit the Mid South food bank on November 5th.
Kim Avant thanks all attendees and encourages parents to call, email, or come by the office if you have any questions or concerns. Kim closes the meeting with a prayer.
The next PTF meeting is Thursday October 3rd.
