“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very form of a servant.”   Philippians 2 : 4-7
Service To Others

As a Briarcrest family, we desire for our students, faculty, and staff to reflect the attitude of Christ.  This desire comes from Acts 1:8:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Our goal is to let the Word of God transform every part of our lives so that we live intentionally and on mission.  Mission 1:8 is our initiative to be the hands and feet of Christ in our school, local community, and world.
    • Mission 1:8 devotes an entire school day in service to the local community. All middle school and high students and faculty participate in a variety of service projects throughout the Greater Memphis area.

  • Mission 1:8 Day

One of the biggest service opportunities of the year is our Mission 1:8 day.  Each year, Briarcest devotes an entire school day in service to the local community.  All middle school and high students and faculty participate in a variety of service projects throughout the Greater Memphis area.
  • Schoolwide Service Opportunities

In addition to Mission 1:8 Day, we provide our students with many other capacities to serve throughout the school year.  We offer school wide drives that all three school divisions (High School, Middle School and Elementary School) are involved in by donating food, clothes, or toys for various charities.  In the High School, students are given opportunities for service through various clubs.

For the past 8 years, Briarcrest has built an international partnership with a ministry called Jungle Kids for Christ (JKC).  JKC is a ministry located in Misahualli, Ecuador, near the site of Jim and Elisabeth Elliot’s ministry with the Huaorani people.

JKC exists to empower jungle kids to break the cycles of poverty through education and discipleship.  Over the last 8 years, over 100 High School faculty members and students have traveled throughout the year to support and advance the meaningful work that is happening there.

The Elementary School and Middle School partner with JKC as well by student sponsorships and raising money for needed school supplies.  This summer, 26 students and 6 faculty members will be serving JKC, performing a sports VBS camp at Antioch Christian Academy (sponsored by JKC) and work projects throughout the campus.
