Senior Luke Coleman Signs To Play Football At U.S. Naval Academy
His big dream came true this week when Briarcrest Senior Luke Coleman signed to play football with the U.S. Naval Academy! During his sophomore year, Luke played mostly defense and at defensive tackle at Briarcrest. In these positions, Luke was extremely explosive and disruptive to anyone he came in contact with on the field. "One of the first things that Navy noticed when looking at Luke was how explosive and aggressive he was on the line," said Coach Brian Stewart. "His junior year, he played a big role in our six man heavy package on the offensive line," Coach Stewart added. "His tremendous strength and speed, sealed the edge making him a tremendous pass protector." The spring before Luke's senior year, he was voted a Division II preseason Mr. Football semifinalist by Tennessee Prep Weekly.
During his senior year, Luke suffered a season ending ACL injury in the Spring and was unable to play in the Fall. "Luke never missed a day with his teammates and was chosen as one of the captains to represent his team," said Coach Stewart.
