BCHS Student Landon Wright Compiles Video To Archive Prominent Artist Event
In November, several BCHS students were granted an interview with prominent artist, Lisa Hoke. Sophomore, Landon Wright has been working diligently on compiling the attached video of the event. See link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLWGYQmkYvg
Ms. Hoke mentioned that the questions the students asked were engaging. Watching her work, while listening to her in “creator-mode” helped the students to connect with making their own pieces of work. Ms. Hoke’s honesty and authenticity was inspiring. We also enjoyed a rare opportunity to visit with Brooks Museum curator, Stanton Thomas. He shared many important ideas about contemporary works of art, being a curator and the impact of art on our society.
Connecting with our art community and with a practicing artist in this familiar way moved our entire department to more effective art making. The opportunity was rich with learning. Each of us is grateful for Lisa Hoke’s generosity. The students and I are also grateful to Amy Foote, Assistant Director of Education at Brooks Museum of Art, Stanton Thomas, Curator of Brooks Museum, Principal Eric Sullivan, and especially BCS Fine Arts Director, JD Frizzell for his encouragement and inspiration.
