The 2012 recipient is:
Mrs. Melanie Maddox Redd in a 1982 alumna who graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Christian Education at Mid America Seminary. Melanie has served on the Memphis Union Mission Board of Directors, the Women’s Leadership Council for FCA and has spoken at the West Tennessee Correctional Facility for Women and Parkview Retirement Village. Additionally she speaks to various groups around the Mid South area such as women’s groups, conferences and retreats. Her first book was published in June 2010 titled Stepping Closer to the Savior and is currently writing a second book. She also publishes a bi-monthly blog on inspirational entries at Melanie Redd.blogspot.com. Melanie serves as the Director of Women’s Ministries at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN where she organizes, leads and manages over 2300 adult women within the church through Bible studies, large events, community outreach and building up the ministries of sister churches. Melanie’s heart is to follow God wherever he leads. With God’s guidance, she has had the opportunity to live in four different states, work with five different churches and teach in three different schools. She has learned to depend completely on Jesus Christ as she tries new things and meets hundreds of new people. One of her favorite passages is Psalm 16:7-11: “I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me…” Melanie is married to her husband, Randy, who is the V.P. of Finance at Mid America Seminary. They have two children: Riley and Emily who is a senior this year at Briarcrest. Their family is actively involved at Faith Baptist Church.
