2011 Recipients

The 2011 recipients are:

Mr. Andy Childs, a 1980 alumnus, was active in concert choir and theatre while at BCHS. He graduated from the University of Memphis where he studied music business and recording engineering. He has been in the music and entertainment business for over 30 years. Andy has recorded with Sony Records, RCA Records and Warner Brother Records with several chart singles and music videos. He has also written songs that have been recorded by several national and international recording artists. Andy has appeared on all major broadcast networks including the FOX series NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND by the producers of American Idol which is beginning its second season. Andy currently resides in Franklin, TN where he attends Brentwood Baptist Church. He has two sons, Daniel, age 25 and Cameron, age, 18.

Mr. Gary Kennon
is a 1978 graduate and native of Memphis, TN. He graduated in 1982 from the University of Memphis where he received his bachelors of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received his masters degree in engineering management from Christian Brothers University in 1991. Gary began his engineering career at Vehicle Service Group 26 years ago and has held numerous positions including engineering, operations management, business development and international sales. Gary’s current position is President and CEO of VSG which is a large global company headquartered in Madison, Indiana and the world’s leader in lifting and collision repair equipment with manufacturing and operation centers on three continents and numerous sales offices worldwide. VSG is also part of Dover Corporation, an $8 billion Fortune 300 company listed on the NYSE. Gary has brought his leadership capabilities forward by participating wherever he can in the Madison community. He is actively involved in the North Madison Christian Church and with organizations such as Girls, Inc. where he has served on Fund Committees and on their Board of Directors as well as other local industries. Gary has been married to his wife Susan for 29 years and has two children: Taylor, age 22, and Cole, age 19.
