2017 Recipient

Jasmine Davis Amaso is a 2003 Briarcrest graduate. She was part of the 2001/2002 Women's Basketball State Championship team. In the spring of 2002, she tried Track and Field for the first time, and proved to be a natural. She easily dominated the city in many track meets, and meet after meet set new Personal Records. By the end of the season she led the team to win the TN state championships and placed 2nd in State in the Pentathlon, 400 m and the 100 m hurdles.
 
During her senior year in 2003, she again lead the Saints to the Track and Field State Championships, as they hosted the first year on their home track in 2003 at the new Briarcrest campus. In Regionals, Jasmine ran on the 4x200m relay, to help boast the team to qualify for state. In Regionals, she participated in 6 events. Setting a triple jump regional record, and winning the 100m hurdles, high jump, pentathlon, triple jump and placing 2nd in the 300 m hurdles. Following the regional meet, she won state championship in the triple jump, 100m hurdles and 400 hurdles. She also placed 2nd in the Pentathlon. Jasmine set several track and field school records and still holds the following records... High Jump (5’4”), Triple Jump (35’ 11.25”), 100-110M Hurdles (14.63), 300M Hurdles (44.88).
 
After graduating from Briarcrest in the spring of 2003, Jasmine attended Rice University in Houston, TX majoring in Architecture and Art History. She was a member of the Varsity Track and Field team competing in the 4x400 relay, Heptathlon, 100M Hurdles, 400M Hurdles and Triple Jump. During her time at Rice University she was Academic All-Conference and member of the 2003/2004 CUSA Track and Field Outdoor Championship team. Jasmine finished Rice University with a Professional Degree of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Architecture and Art History. Jasmine went on to become a design architect at firms, PBK Architects in Houston TX and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects in Los Angeles, CA. She continued her career as a sustainability consultant for Waste Management in Houston TX and Chicago IL. Jasmine relocated to New York, NY to continue her higher education earning a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in 2012.  
 
Currently Jasmine is a Vice President at the second largest global Real Estate firm “JLL,” and leads a team of project managers who run all Design and Construction projects for BBVA Compass bank. The portfolio encompasses 854 retail bank branch and corporate locations in over 6 million square feet located in the Sunbelt region of the Unites States. Prior to the BBVA Compass team lead role Jasmine was a Senior Project Manager on the New York project team focusing on construction management, green building and energy optimization projects for clients such as MetLife, NBA, LinkedIn, Lexus Toyota, Microsoft, New York Presbyterian, HSBC and Verizon. In June 2013 Jasmine was named New York Energy Week’s “Top Ten Young New York Energy Leaders.”
 
Currently, Jasmine Amaso lives in Houston, TX with her husband Ebiabo “Alex” Amaso, their 18 month old daughter Olivia and 3 year old Goldendoodle, Sasha. They are expecting their second child in early 2018.
