Senior Lydia Summers To Study Art At Rhodes Next Fall
Senior Lydia Summers has attended Briarcrest for 14 years and began taking art her sophomore year. Since then, Lydia has won numerous awards. In 2020, she won a regional Scholastic gold key and national silver medal for her piece, Daddy’s Girl. In 2021, she received Best of Printmaking in the West Tennessee Regional Art Exhibition. She also won two gold keys for her portfolio, Tenderness, which is a compilation of mixed media pieces of her and her siblings with an emphasis in printmaking and her piece Conversations. She is the recipient of the Senior Division Portfolio award resulting in a $1500 scholarship and $500 cash prize and the Printmaking Award resulting in a $200 cash prize. She will be majoring in art at Rhodes College in the fall.
The Briarcrest Fine Arts Department honors students who have either been accepted to a specific program at a college or university with the intent to be a professional in the fine arts field or have received a scholarship to perform.
