BCS Salutatorian Wins DAR Award

On Friday, May 31, 2019, in honor of Tennessee Statehood Day, the Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution met in the House Chamber at the Capitol in Nashville to present several student awards. Five students were presented with Good Citizens Awards from each of the state districts. Taylor Elliott, Salutatorian of the Briarcrest Class of 2019, was initially presented as the winner from the Chickasaw District. Taylor was then further chosen from the top five finalists as the Tennessee STATE Winner of the DAR Good Citizens Award. Chosen for having written the best original essay under timed conditions as well as demonstrating exceptional character and leadership in his high school environment, Taylor’s win honors the Watauga Chapter. He was presented with a certificate, a DAR Good Citizen pin, and a generous scholarship. Representative Jim Coley also presented Taylor with a Tennessee state flag that flew atop the Capitol on May 20, 2019, in honor of his award as the Tennessee Good Citizens State Winner.
