Briarcrest Christian School Announces Plans to Expand Elementary School

Briarcrest Christian School announced today plans for a $5.3 million expansion of the elementary school located at 76 South Houston Levee Road.  The new construction at the elementary school will enhance Briarcrest’s ability to serve families at the beginning of their educational journey.  The construction is expected to begin in June.

The elementary expansion will include an elementary multi-purpose gymnasium with a collegiate-size main court, a state-of-the-art elementary STEM lab, a new elementary art room, new classrooms and a playground specially designed for pre-school students. “Today is a very exciting day for Briarcrest,” said Mark Merrill, President, Briarcrest Christian School.  “With this new expansion, our elementary students will enjoy unparalleled facilities in which they will achieve their God-given academic, athletic and artistic potential.”

“Briarcrest is pleased to see the culmination of a vision developed by past Boards of Trustees come to fruition with this expansion project,” said Jamie Augustine, Chairman, Briarcrest Board of Trustees.  “We believe that this new elementary wing will serve future generations of Briarcrest families desiring a Christ-centered, biblically-based education for many years to come.”

The new elementary expansion is the last phase in fulfilling Briarcrest’s long-term master plan that our firm designed years ago,” said Curt Pierce, Principal, Fleming and Associates Architects, P.C.  “The exterior façade will maintain the architectural style established at the high school which opened in 2003.”

Montgomery Martin Contractors will manage the new expansion project.  “When we built Briarcrest Sportsplex in the fall of 2000 and the high school soon thereafter, we never imagined that the facilities would be what they are today. We are truly honored to partner again with Briarcrest in building quality facilities for their students, faculty and families,” said Richard Meena, Vice President, Montgomery Martin Contractors.
