2020 Recipient

The Director of Academic Counseling for the High School from July 2002 to June 2012, Linda is a loyal supporter of Briarcrest athletic, academic and fine arts programs. 
 
A native of Memphis, Linda currently lives in Olive Branch, MS.  She received her Bachelor’s in Education and Masters’ in Guidance and Counseling from what is now the University of Memphis.  Before becoming a Guidance Counselor, Linda taught English and Latin in three local public schools.  She received several awards including the Rotary Award for Teacher Excellence, notably only the third counselor to ever receive this Award.  She also held several leadership positions with the Memphis, West TN District, and TN Counseling Associations.  Linda served on the local, district, state, regional and international levels of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Sorority for Women Educators. 
 
Linda worships at Longview Heights Baptist Church where she serves as Communications Chair of her Sunday School Class and sings in the Sanctuary Choir.  She also sings at local care homes with the Sr. Adult Outreach Choir of Woodland Presbyterian Church.  Rounding out her community service is her 11-year service as secretary of her Home Owners’ Association and active membership in the Salvation Army’s Auxiliary.
 
Linda is the widow of Donald Toombs and continues to miss him and their son, David, who also supported the Saints when he was living.  She is proud of her great niece and nephew, both graduates of BCS, Payton, 2002, and Matthew McClure, 1999.
