2019 Recipient

Receiving the Briarcrest Athletic Hall of Fame Service Award is Michael Henry, a 1979 Briarcrest graduate. Michael was a three-year Briarcrest letterman in football and track. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas.
As a volunteer for Briarcrest, Michael served several years as a coach for the 7th and 8th grade football teams. In 2002, Michael organized and founded the Golden Saints youth programs in Football, Cheerleading, Track, Basketball and Baseball. He also served as the Golden Saints Booster Club President.
Michael continues to be involved in the community as past President of the Insurors of Memphis, Founder of Mid-South Youth Baseball, and past board member of Classical Ballet Memphis. He currently serves as an Advanced EMT for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and is a partner with Clay & Land Insurance in Memphis.
Michael and his wife, Jan Heatherly Henry (BCS ’78), have been married 34 years. They have three children, Wes (BCS ’05), Nina (BCS ’07), and Blake. Michael and Jan also have four grandchildren. Congratulations, Michael!
