A 2003 Briarcrest graduate, Jada Mincy Dobbins helped lead Briarcrest to two-straight State Titles, averaging 20 points, nine rebounds and four blocks per game. A 6-1 power forward, Jada served as Team Captain her junior and senior years and was named MVP for the State in 2002 and 2003. She was also named Tennessee Miss Basketball in 2003. She was also a member of the 2002-03 BCHS Homecoming Court and Student Council.
Jada continued her basketball career at the University of Mississippi. During her senior year, Jada led the Ole Miss Rebels as Team Captain to an Elite Eight appearance in 2007 and captured Female Athlete of the Year honors. Jada started 33 games, averaging nearly 30 minutes a game during her 2007 senior season and rebounding an average of eight boards-per-contest. Jada was also a double legacy member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority while in college.
One of three siblings in her family to play college basketball, Jada's oldest brother, Jerome, is a former Olympian, and her youngest brother, Jordan, class of 2005, is an assistant coach for the University of Florida Men’s Basketball Team.
Jada married Benjamin Dobbins on October 11, 2019, and the couple currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas. She has worked in pharmaceutical and medical sales. Jada actively serves her church and community through the women’s ministries Embrace Grace and Justin’s Place. Congratulations, Jada!
