Joe Murphy ‘82
Joe Murphy’s love and legacy of performance was ignited as a member of the Briarcrest Marching, Symphonic and Jazz Bands under the direction of Terry McNatt and Ron Turner, and a member of the Concert Choir under the direction of Steven May. 
After graduating from Briarcrest in 1982, Joe majored in tuba performance at Tennessee Tech University, performed at Carnegie Hall as a tuba soloist in 1985, and was a member and featured tuba soloist of the United States Air Force Band from 1987-1991.
A Miraphone Tuba Recording Artist for over 20 years, Joe is one of the top tuba players in the United States. He has played live and on hundreds of recording projects with artists such as Steven Tyler (of AEROSMITH), Evanescence, Garth Brooks, John Pizzarelli, Michael Bolton, Alison Krauss, Rascal Flatts, Michael McDonald, and Vince Gill, to name a few.
