Receiving the Briarcrest Athletic Hall of Fame Service award is Preston Carpenter. Preston graduated from Collierville High School in 1968 where he was named All County, All State, All Mid-south and All-American in Football. After high school, Preston attended the University of Mississippi on a football scholarship earning three letters and was awarded the Ole Miss Distinguished American Award.
At Briarcrest, Preston served as a volunteer high school football coach for 7 years and went with the Saints to 2 state championship games. He also served as the President of the Golden Saints Booster Club for 2 years.
Preston is involved in the community on the Schilling YMCA Board of Directors, as Founder of the Collierville Youth Athletic Association and as a member of the Hall of Fame for Collierville Parks and Recreation. Preston and his wife Sandy have been married for 47 years and are members of Collierville United Methodist Church. They have two sons, Preston Jr. and Davis, and 4 grandchildren. Preston’s wife Sandy and their two sons , Preston, class of 94 and Davis, Class of 99 are accepting his award tonight.
