2018 Recipient

Laura Waterbury, a 1992 Briarcrest graduate was a two-sport athlete exceling in volleyball and basketball. Laura won two State championships in volleyball and received the TSSAA Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award and was named Best of the Preps/ All-Metro Volleyball player.
 
On the basketball team Laura was awarded the TSSAA Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award, Honorable Mention All-District, All Regional Tournament Team, 1st Team All District, and the All District Tournament Team.   Laura was selected Best of Preps/All Metro for Basketball and was a Finalist for the Best of Preps Female Athlete of the Year. Laura was named Female Athlete of the Year at Briarcrest her senior year.
 
Upon graduating, Laura continued her basketball career at Bethel College, now Bethel University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Informatics and Information Management from The University of Tennessee, Health Science Center.  Laura is currently employed as a Legal Specialist for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, in the Corporate Legal Health Information Management Department. Laura attends Union Ave Baptist Church and lives in East Memphis with her four dogs, Ethel, Laverne, Ruby and Hank.
