Service and Missions

Briarcrest's Service Philosophy

As a Briarcrest family, we desire for our students, faculty, and staff to reflect the attitude of Christ. This desire comes from Acts 1:8:

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Our goal is to let the Word of God transform every part of our lives so that we live intentionally and on mission. Mission 1:8 is our initiative to be the hands and feet of Christ in our school, local community, and world.

Special Service Days

Each year, on Mission 1:8 Day, Briarcrest devotes an entire school day in service to the local community. All middle school and high school students and faculty participate in a variety of service projects throughout the Greater Memphis area.

In addition to Mission 1:8 Day, we provide our students with many other capacities to serve throughout the school year. We offer school-wide drives that all three school divisions (High School, Middle School and Elementary School) are involved in by donating food, clothes, or toys for various charities. In the High School, students are given opportunities for service through various clubs.

Our Elementary School students participate in several special service dates each year including Toy Truck Tuesday and Le Bonheur's Bunny Lane. These events enable students and their parents to experience the joy of giving to children in need around our area. 

Global Mission Trips

Each year students from Briarcrest serve Jesus Christ on Short-Term Mission Trips around the world. We currently participate in two summer mission cohorts to Ecuador and one that travels to Ethiopia. 

Since 2010, Briarcrest has built an international partnership with a ministry called Jungle Kids for Christ (JKC). JKC is a ministry located in Misahualli, Ecuador, near the site of Jim and Elisabeth Elliot’s ministry with the Huaorani people. 

While in Ecuador, we work with a local school in the jungle, Antioch Christian Academy. Our students and teachers serve the school, missionaries, and community through various ministry opportunities. These include construction work projects, partnering with students in educational opportunities, local Bible and sports clubs, and more. 

JKC exists to empower jungle kids to break the cycles of poverty through education and discipleship. Several hundred High School faculty members and students have traveled throughout the year to support and advance the meaningful work that is happening there. 

The Elementary School and Middle School partner with JKC as well by student sponsorships and raising money for needed school supplies.
