Mershon Cummings graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She also received a Master of Education from Union University. This will be her twenty-fourth year in education in both public and private school systems. She has taught kindergarten through eighth grade during that time and served in various administrative roles such as Curriculum Coordinator, Middle School Director, Director of Academic and Student Services, and now Middle School Principal.
Mershon grew up in Germantown. She and her husband, Doug, have two children. Kenedee graduated from Briarcrest in 2017 and Robbie will be a Junior this year at Briarcrest. They enjoy spending time together on the lake and at sporting events. They are members at Woodland Presbyterian Church where Mershon has served as a Deacon and an Elder and volunteered with the youth. She is grateful that God has called her to Briarcrest Christian Middle School where she tries to remember her favorite verse each day, Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
