BREAKING NEWS: Briarcrest Lacrosse Teams Travel To Little Rock And Have A Victorious Weekend!
The Briarcrest Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams traveled to Little Rock this past weekend to play in the LacrosseFest Tournament to face teams from Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee.
The boys on Saturday defeated Edmond, OK in their first game 7-0, Little Rock 8-3 in their second and Byrd High School from Louisiana on Sunday's game 6-3. First year Coach Tim McGeeney, was pleased with their first outing. "I thought overall it was an excellent weekend of lacrosse. We began to gel as a team and everyone had a chance to contribute. Our goalies all played very well, as did our specialty units of man-up and man-down." The boys had some stand-out players. Grant Heyman led the way with 4 goals and 2 assists, while Cole Hays contributed 2 goals and 3 assists. Both Hopper Seely and Carter Oliver tallied 4 goals apiece. The boys next game is this Friday, February 28th at MUS at 7:00 PM.
On the girls side, the Lady Saints also ran the table beating North West Arkansas 8-0 in their opener, Edmond, OK 11-2 in game 2 and wrapped the weekend up with a 7-3 win over Byrd High School from Louisiana. "We have a very young team this year and many new players to the game of lacrosse, so I was very proud of how the girls played this weekend," said Coach Seely. Katie Walker and Olivia Holt lead all scoring for the weekend with 8 goals each and Macy Vaughn added seven. The coaching staff was especially pleased with the goalie play. "The best surprise of the weekend was our freshman goalie Piper Millar, who only allowed 5 goals over 3 games and made some incredible saves!" added Seely. The girls next game is home Tuesday night vs. White Station at 6 PM.
