Marching Band

The BCS Marching Band is a high-energy group with a very sharp appearance, a musical sound and a dynamic performance. This ensemble involves our entire High School Band including select members from our Middle School Band. The vision for this group is to captivate their audiences with a high level of musical excitement at every football game and at every competition. A high standard of performance will be maintained through demanding large ensemble and sectional rehearsals held during school and twice a week after school. The Marching Band is the most visible unit of our music curriculum and represents the school with excellence.

 

 

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band performs grade 2, 3 and 4 band literature designed for the early- intermediate student musician. The Symphonic Band will pursue excellence in rehearsal and performance while providing its members with challenging, yet accessible music that is specifically selected to teach certain pedagogical skills on each instrument. Students will not be required to audition for this ensemble. 

 

 

Wind Ensemble (Honor Band)

With a goal of being one of the finest high school ensembles in the city of Memphis, our Wind Ensemble will be comprised of advanced wind and percussion students. This ensemble will be profoundly dedicated to deliver artistic performances that are both eloquent and meticulously prepared. The goal of the Wind Ensemble will be to achieve a very high degree of professionalism, while serving its students with challenging and artistic repertoire from all periods, and styles. Students will be required to take private lessons and will audition for this ensemble.

 

 

Commercial Music Ensemble (SoundScape)

Founded on rock, blues and popular music rooted in the rich musical cultural of Memphis, SoundScape is distinctly cutting edge in its content and approach, and embrace the principal musical movements of our time. Integrating live performance and studio recording, our curriculum covers the variety of influential styles, relevant technologies, and college opportunities open to today's high school musician. This is a highly selective group consisting of 2 guitarists, 1 keyboard player, 2 drummers/ percussionists, 1 bass guitarist, and a brass. SoundScape performs many different styles of popular music including Top 40, Pop, Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Alternative and Country. Membership is by audition only.
