Band students make All West TN Honor Bands
This past Saturday, several of our band students went to Jackson, TN to tryout for the All- West Tennessee Honor Bands. More than 2000 students from all over West Tennessee tried out for the bands. Briarcrest had 6 students selected to the honor bands and 1 alternate. Will Wofford was selected as the second alternate on tuba. Harrison Ervin was selected as the 6th chair Tuba for the Red band (14th overall.) Derek Russell was selected as the 3rd Euphonium for the Red Band (9th overall.) Salar Rafieetary was selected as the 6th chair Clarinet for the Blue band (15th overall.) Sarah Wofford was selected as the 2nd chair French Horn for the Blue band (9th overall.) Conner Vlasak was selected as the 2nd chair Tuba for the Blue band (2nd overall.) Chip Houston was selected as the 1st chair Trombone for the Wind Ensemble (1st overall.) This is the second straight year that Chip has been selected as the top Trombone in all of West Tennessee. This qualifies Chip to be in the All State Band for a second straight year as well. The All West Tennessee Honor Bands will perform at the Cannon Center downtown on Saturday, February 2. The All State Concert will be on Saturday, April 19 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville. Congratulations!
Band takes first place in Parade
The Briarcrest Christian High School Band participated in the Germantown Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1, 2007. The band represented our school very well with their performance and was rewarded the First Place Trophy.
Band Students make All West Tennessee Orchestra
Congratulations to Chip Houston and Salar Rafieetary for being selected to the All West Tennessee Orchestra this past Saturday. The students auditioned at Cordova High School this past Saturday. Salar made 17th chair on violin and Chip was chosen as the 2nd chair trombone. Their concert will be at the Germantown Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 12. Congratulations on this huge honor.

On Saturday, January 20th, several of our band students auditioned for the All West Tennessee Honor Band. Based on their performances, three students were selected to the honor bands. Daniel Burford made 1st Chair for the Red Band on tuba. Derek Russell made 1st chair for the Blue Band and was 3rd place overall for Euphoniums. Chip Houston made 1st Chair Wind Ensemble for trombones scoring the highest trombone score in all of West Tennessee. By being the top trombone player in West Tennessee, Chip will represent West Tennessee in the All State Band in April. He is the first person from Briarcrest to make All State in at least the past 7 years.
