Giving Campaigns
Moving Forward in Faith
In 1997, Briarcrest Christian School entered into its first major capital campaign, the Moving Forward In Faith campaign, which provided funds for an extensive renovation of the East Memphis campus, technology upgrades, the purchase of over 90 acres in eastern Shelby County, and the construction of the Saints Sportsplex facility. Over $6 million was raised over a 4-year period, launching Briarcrest Christian School into a period of unprecedented growth.
Giving Him the Praise-Phase I
After BCS completed construction of the Saints Sportsplex, the focus for progress turned to the construction of a new high school facility on the same grounds. In January of 2002, Briarcrest launched its Giving Him the Praise capital campaign, securing over $2.5 million to complement a tax-free municipal bond and fund construction of the new high school.
The Giving Him the Praise campaign made possible the opening of Briarcrest Christian High School in the Fall of 2003. The facility opened with 25 general classrooms, 4 science labs, 3 computer labs, a library/media center, a Fine Arts wing (with spacious rooms for visual arts, instrumental music, and vocal music), a 32,000 sq. ft. gymnasium, spacious locker rooms, a weight room, wrestling room, and administrative offices.
Giving Him the Praise-Phase II-A
With the pressing need to build a full-service cafeteria, three individual donors felt led to provide a cornerstone gift to initiate the Phase II-A "Lunch Money" campaign. The total cost of the project, completed in the Fall of 2004, is $2.3 million. This added facility has provided BCS with a full-service kitchen and cafeteria/multipurpose room that will seat up to 700 or host indoor practice for sports, cheerleading and band. An additon of a 3,500 sq. ft. weight room enabled BCS to turn the original weight room into a 2,000 sq. ft. wrestling room.
As of December, 2004, Briarcrest has raised $1,676,000 in the "Lunch Money" campaign, leaving an additional $624,000 needed to completely fund the building project. Please consider helping us reach our goal!
